Winter in Moena
Skiing in Moena
The Alpe Lusia and San Pellegrino slopes a few minutes away by ski bus, the Sellaronda and Latemar as day trips. And in the evening you walk home from the centre.
The local slopes: Alpe Lusia and San Pellegrino
Moena's ski area is called Tre Valli: Alpe Lusia, Passo San Pellegrino and Falcade, about 100 km of slopes. The Lusia gondola starts just outside the village, at Ronchi. The ski bus from Moena goes to Lusia, Passo San Pellegrino and the Alochet cross-country centre and, up the valley, to the lifts at Vigo (Catinaccio) and Pozza (Buffaure); with one change you also reach Campitello, Canazei and the Costalunga Pass. The ski bus is paid, not included in the ski pass. With a Dolomiti Superski pass you can also ski in every other area of the network. The season usually runs from early December to early April.
The Sellaronda, and Latemar as a day trip
The Sellaronda is the tour to do at least once: about 44 km on skis around the Sella massif, over the Pordoi, Sella, Gardena and Campolongo passes and through four valleys, Val di Fassa, Val Gardena, Alta Badia and Arabba. From Moena you join it at Campitello (Col Rodella) or Canazei, 25 minutes by car, or take the direct ski bus to Pozza and ski there via Buffaure and Ciampac. Pick a colour, orange clockwise or green anticlockwise, and start early: it takes 5–6 hours. About 10 km away is Latemar too, with Predazzo, Pampeago and Obereggen.
Cross-country, snowshoes and winter walks
Around Moena there are about 60 km of cross-country trails and groomed paths for walking in the snow. At the end of January the Marcialonga starts from Moena, the long-distance cross-country race through the Fassa and Fiemme valleys.
