How to get to Moena

Moena sits at the entrance of Val di Fassa, in Trentino: it is easy to reach from the Brenner motorway, by train and bus or from the airports of northern Italy.

By car

From the Brenner motorway (A22) take the Egna/Ora exit and follow the SS48 through Val di Fiemme, past Cavalese and Predazzo: Moena is about 45 km from the exit. Alternatively, take the Bolzano Nord exit and drive up Val d'Ega, past Lake Carezza and over the Costalunga Pass to Vigo di Fassa and on to Moena: also about 45 km, with more bends but finer views. From the Veneto region you arrive on the A27 (Belluno exit), via Agordo and the San Pellegrino Pass. Outside built-up areas, headlights must be on in daytime too.

From Germany and Austria

From Munich you head south to the Brenner. In Austria the Inn Valley motorway (A12) needs a vignette, while the Brenner section (A13) has its own toll, paid at the Schönberg toll station or online in advance. After the border you continue on the A22 to Egna/Ora or Bolzano Nord. Current prices and rules are on the website of ASFINAG, the Austrian motorway company.

By train and bus

The nearest stations are Trento, Bolzano and Ora. From Trento, Trentino Trasporti line 101 reaches Moena all year round via Cavalese and Predazzo. From Ora a bus runs to Val di Fiemme, where you change to line 101; from Bolzano, line 180 climbs to Vigo di Fassa via Carezza, and from there line 101 goes down to Moena. On some high-season weekends there is also the Freccialink bus, timed with the Frecciargento trains at Ora and booked together with your Trenitalia ticket. Check timetables and service periods before you travel.

By plane

The nearest airport is Bolzano, about 50 km away. Verona, Venice, Treviso and Innsbruck are under 200 km; Bergamo, Milan and Munich are further. On winter weekends the Val di Fassa FlySki Shuttle links the airports of Verona, Venice, Treviso, Bergamo and Milan with the valley, with a stop in Moena: book online by the Friday. At other times there are taxis and private transfers.

Once you are here

Getting around the valley is easy without a car too: regular buses link Moena with Canazei and Val di Fiemme, and in winter the (paid) ski bus takes you to the lifts of Alpe Lusia, San Pellegrino and the Val di Fassa. The apartment is in the centre: shops, restaurants and bus stops are within walking distance.
